About Us
OUR VALUES
Joy
Whether our students go on to be professional dancers or not one of our most important values is that every dancer should experience the joy of dance and love to come to their classes!
Encouragement
Our teachers aim to bring out the best in each student through encouragement. If a student feels encouraged then they are much more likely to flourish.
Confidence
Through dance, we help individuals get ready for the big wide world as we teach them how to present themselves in a confident and professional manner.
Achievement
Our students are always working towards achieving something, whether it's an exam or performance. Celebrating our individual dancer’s achievements is our delight!
WHAT WE DO
ISTD Dance Exams
Our students can take dance exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern with highly recognised ISTD Examination board. If students are ready to take an exam we will notify their parents and give them resources in order to help them practice that little bit more at home. Taking an exam is a great achievement but we do make this optional for students as we believe that each individual is different.
Performances
Something that makes us unique is that we have a very busy performance calendar compared to most dane schools! Our students have plenty of opportunities to perform on stage to share the joy of dance while entertaining others!
This includes our big Dance Show, Christmas Ballet Show, Christmas Spectacular Show, Summer , Disneyland Paris, Crowthorne May Fair and Crowthorne Carnival.
Workshops
Summer School: Four days of dance, singing, crafts, and a grand performance.
Level Up: Advanced choreography with West End stars and professional dance photos for seniors.
Teacups and Tutus: A free ballet party for little ones, featuring dance and afternoon tea.
West End Dance Workshops: Dive into professional choreography during the holidays.
Performing Teams
We have 4 performing teams catering to different ages and abilities, giving students the chance to work on new choreography, improve their skills, and enjoy more performing opportunities. Entry is by audition only, as we want to keep the standard high and dancers must perform a variety of dance styles. For more info about how to audition, contact us here >>

“I danced at LHDA for 8 years and loved every minute of it, it's such a friendly atmosphere to learn dance in and so many opportunities to show off what you've learnt. Thanks to what LHDA taught me I have been able to achieve a Grade A in my PE practical at A-Level and has not only developed my dancing abilities but also my confidence.”
“It's an amazing dance school!”

FAQ’s
+ What Should I wear for my free trial?
Please wear anything comfortable and easy to move in such as leggings and a t-shirt. Trainers, plimsolls, gym shoes or bare feet are also fine for your trial. If you own a leotard/catsuit and dance shoes then please feel free to come in them. If you have a little one coming to one of our Prima ballet classes then they are more than welcome to wear a princess/fairy dress as it’s important that they feel special!
+ Where are the classes held?
We use a few different locations for our dance classes. Our timetable states which venue your class is and you can visit our Student Hub to view our different locations in order to get directions.
+ How much are the dance classes?
The price of each class depends on how long each class is. To see our current class fees please visit the Student Hub
+ How Do i pay for my classes?
If you would like to continue coming to our dance classes after your free trial then please let us know and we will send you your Parent Portal details and an invoice. Our preferred method of payment is via bank transfer but you can also pay through paypal or by cheque. I’m afraid we do not accept cash.
+ Where can I buy the uniform from?
You can buy your dancewear from Dancia International (the pink dance shop in Crowthorne High Street). Just tell them that you require the LH Dance Academy uniform and they will be able to help you. Alternatively you can use our online uniform shop. It works out to be slightly cheaper this way and if it doesn’t fit quite right you can send it back. However if you prefer to try before you buy then head over to Dancia. It’s worth noting that Dancia International do not stock our tap/modern catsuit. If you would like to buy the special LHDA uniform please click here. 2: https://lhd.mydancestore.co.uk 1: https://lhd.mydancestore.co.uk
+ How Do I Keep Up to date with news and events?
You can keep up to date on our website in the Student Hub or check on our Facebook Page and by joining our closed group. We will send you an email if your child is invited to take an exam or take part in a performance.
+ How should my child wear his/her hair?
We require all our female ballet students to have their hair in a bun. If your child has very short hair then please use a headband to keep it off their face. For all other styles of dance we ask that hair is neatly tied back.
+ When will my child take their dance exam?
Your dance teacher will monitor your child and will decide whether they are ready to take their exam. Students need to spend roughly 18 months working on each grade but if your child needs more time we will inform you. We use the ISTD exam board, so there is a required standard that is expected in order to be able to pass. If your child doesn’t meet the required standard we will inform you that they either need more time or they can move up without taking the exam. We like to keep the students with their peer group whether they take exams or not.
